Sorting Out
The previous week, Grade 1s explored the different relationships of living things: Predation, Parasitism, Coomensalism, Mutualism and Competition. They used their own vocabulary to explain what each relationship is and how it is shown in the environment. This week, we revisited the relationships and sorted out different scenarios. Grade 1s worked in groups and each group was given different pictures and written scenarios showing how different living things interact. The task of the group is to look, discuss and decide which relationship do the pictures/scenarios.
At the end of the task, the whole class did a gallery walk and checked whether the given scenarios are in the right column or not.
This task gave the Grade 1s the opportunity to work together as a team, share their perspectives without fear and be open-minded to come up with a group decision.
