DSKI BOOK DAY 2024

International World Book Day is a celebration decreed by UNESCO. It is celebrated in the US and other countries on April 23rd but in the UK, it's on the first Thursday of March. Following the UK's celebration date, DSKI held BOOK Day last Thursday, 7th March 2024. It was a simple celebration remembering great writers and sharing stories. All students went to school in their very cozy pajamas. Even teachers too! Grade 1 was lucky to have Parent volunteer readers who shared with us inspiring stories that made us think, be curious, empathize, wonder and a lot more. In the morning, Ms Midori shared with us the book written by her author friend, Scott Busby. The book's title is Baxter's Second Chance: A New Leash On Life. It was aboout a dog that Scott adopted. It was inspiring as it showed how the dog's life transformed. It also invited our young learners to think of showing care to their animal pets. In the afternoon, Ms Marie read the book with a title It Might Be An Apple. It made us wonder about things we see. It looked into different perspectives and also dwelt inot how our minds think and inquire. To find out if it were an apple, better not just look at it, but touch it, smell it, taste it. And yes, we confirmed that it is indeed an apple! Happy World Book Day!!!
