Culture Week
This Week, the whole school celebrated Culture week. The Grade 1s came to school in clothes reflecting different themes: notable person, art and artist, silly hat/socks and national costume.
The Grade 1s learned different dances from different countries: India, Scotland and Philippines. They also learned saying HELLO in different languages.
Apart from that, Grade 1s showed where they come from on the map. It is interesting to see how diverse Grade 1 class is. They showed their radiant smiles in the Photo Booth at the MPR.
The culminating part of the celebration was the parade and the hanami (picnic). The students enjoyed the long walk under the sun. They also enjoyed eating snacks together. They shared snacks that their country is famous for such as crepe from Spain, mochi from Japan, sticky rice with cinnamon from South Korea, and others.
A big thanks to all parents who helped and supported the event.
At DSKI, we came from different countries. We speak different languages, but our hearts beat as ONE.
