Light, Shadows, Colours and Creativity

This week, Grade 1s further explored lights and its properties. We looked at reflection, refraction and shadows formed by opaque objects. We also looked into how to make coloured shadows. We used the knowledge of light to express our creative side. Currently, Grade 1s are working on making a mini shadow puppet play in their mini theater. We are excited to share with everyone what we have been working on.

Exploring LIGHT

This week, we get to know more facts about light. We immersed into different experiments. We gave our initial guesses and tried to prove them through hands on activities. We researched information and shared our findings to our classmates. We looked into the questions: - How does light help us see? - Why can we see colours? - Do we see all light? - Where does light come from? - What are transparent, translucent and opaque objects?

What we know about LIGHT

This week, we started exploring about LIGHT. We began with sharing what we already know about light by making a picture compilation of things that we think show or have light. We did think-pair-share activity where we shared our work with a partner. After sharing what we already know about light, we asked questions and voiced out our queries about light. The common questions that came up are: - What is light? - Where does light come from? - can we see all light? - How do we use light? How does light help us? - and many more We applied our research skills to get answers to the common questions we asked. We looked at different sources (videos, texts and books). Then we use dour own words to explain what information we gathered.

Guided by the success criteria, they all worked hard on this task.
