What kept the Grade 1s busy this week?
Aside from the constant chatting with classmates and teachers as well as playing with friends, we were busy inside our classrooms.
Essential Agreements:
Setting up the essential agreements is important to establish at the beginning of school year. The essential agreements serve as guide for the students on how they should act so they will learn and support other's learning as well. We centered our decision to answering the question,
'How do we make sure that we will all have a meaningful learning in the school?'
Learner Profile:
IB looks forward to developing internationally-minded learners who encompass the attributes of the learner profile. Thus, as early as Kindergarten, these attributes must be introduced to the learners and the vocabulary explicitly used as part of the language in the classroom. So we started the year unpacking what these attributes are and how them as students can evidence them.
Pre-Assessments in Math and Language:
The start of the year is also a good time to check how much do our learners remember about their lessons the previous year, check how their skills have sharpened over the break and plan how to support them in their learning.
